Ellis W. Carle II Ellis W. Carle II of Kingston passed away peacefully Tuesday in Penn State Hershey Medical Center, surrounded by members of his loving family. He was born in Nesbitt Hospital, Kingston, on Oct. 28, 1946, to Gertrude A. Carle and the late Ellis W. Carle Sr. He graduated from West Side Central Catholic High School and King's College, Wilkes-Barre. Ellis was employed by Luzerne County Children and Youth Services for 33 years. He retired from LCC&YS in 2001 and became the program representative for the state Department of Public Welfare, Northeast Regional Office of Children, Youth and Families. He retired from the state position in September 2007. He will be sadly missed by the many co-workers and clients that he befriended throughout his career. He was a member of St. Nicholas Church, Wilkes-Barre. Ellis was an active member in the Kingston Independent Fire Co. 1 for 39 years and a former trustee. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Squadron 395. He was also an active participant in many of his children's extracurricular activities through the years. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Patti Ann Carle. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; daughter, Lisa and son-in-law, Anthony Long; sons, Edward and Jeffrey Carle; mother, Gertrude A. Carle; sister, Trudie and brother-in-law, Robert Kertulis; grandchildren, Gwyneth and Anthony Long; many nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. from Hugh B. Hughes & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Nicholas Church, Wilkes-Barre, with Monsignor Joseph Rauscher officiating. Interment will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Shavertown. Friends may call Friday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home. A service will be conducted by Kingston Independent Fire Co. 1 at 7 p.m., members are asked to meet at the funeral home at 6:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Children and Youth in care of the Ellis Carle Scholarship Fund.
